About 4 years ago I knew I was coaching a special bunch of players and knew they were premier standard. But they started in division 1 last season and won it. So today was the first test at premier level against Mary's who were 4th last season.
Early on Mary's got a very harsh penalty which they converted. Blarneys response was brilliant Scott Forrest played a lovely chip into the path of john lehane who won a great penalty. Liam o Connor placed it beautifully to level the match. 4 minutes later ball played across was dummied by Lehane and josh Roberts turned back onto his left foot and hit the post, Lehane followed up to score. Blarney could have added to their lead in the second half when sub shay Dineen hit the bar. Late on Eli Lenihan had to deal with 2 late scares but overall blarney deserved their win.
Best for blarney was 4 years of great work through our academy with ALL our local players thanks John Forrest manager.
