Douglas Hall V Blarney Utd 22-Nov-15 Blarney had the rub of the green in this game after sustained pressure from Douglas early in the game and the last 15 minutes of the game Blarney managed to pinch all three points. Defensively Blarney were very strong at the back throughout and the Hall could not break them down with Ben Maher as sound as ever between the posts and the pairing of Cathal McCarthy and Gavin O’Sullivan resolute as ever at center back and also Dave &Johnathan Keane protecting the flanks superbly. Douglas had the most possession in the first 20 minutes of this game but created little chances in this time with Blarney defending brilliantly. Blarney came into the game in the remaining 10 minutes of the half and had some good possession and when Cameron Lynch was put through on the 23min his shot went just wide to the relief of the Douglas players and it was 0-0 at HT. Both teams had equal possession in the first 15 minutes of the second half with little chances from both sides. The breakthrough came on 53minutes when the ever threatening Lynch got inside the Douglas defence and he finished from 15 yrds with the Hall keeper getting his finger tips to it but it was not enough , 1-0 to Blarney. The Hall pressed for the remainder of the game and had one great shot from 20yrds which the superb Blarney keeper Ben Maher tipping it over the bar. 1-0 Blarney and 3pts. MOM was Cathal McCarthy.
