Blarney Utd came into this game on the back of an three match unbeaten run and where looking forward to the challenge that Corinthian Boys would present them. With only a point between the two side, Blarney sitting in third and Corinthians sitting in forth it was always going to be a tough match. The match kicked of with Blarney on the front foot form the start and were well on top for the first five minutes having plenty of possession. But so how Corinthian Boys took the lead on in the 5th minute totally against the run of play. A free needlessly given away allowed Corinthians a free shot at goal. Peter Klys in his first competitive start for the team made a wonderful save getting down to his right but some ball watching allowed the Corinthians number 10 to run on to the ball unchallenged and he slotted the ball in from 2 yards to give them the lead. Blarney responded really well and tested the keeper again after 7 minuted after some lovely one touch football. Blarney were level on 11 minutes with some great play down the right side. A wonderful ball down the right touchline from Eddie Murphy to the on rushing Isaac Cronin who drove into the 18 yard box and put a lovely ball right across the box for the in rushing Diarmuid MacDonagh to slot the ball home for a well deserved equaliser. Blarney continued to push forward with great play in the centre of midfield from Sam Bruchet, Patrick O'Sullivan and Isaac Cronin in the holding role. That onward pressure paid dividend ends on 30 minutes when Adam O'Donoughe took a beautiful free kick that ended up in the top corner of the net to make it 2.1 and it remained that way until the half time whistle. The second half started in much the same way as the first half went. Although Blarney got away with some slack defending Corinthians had a great chance to level but again Peter Klys was excellent in goal and made a great save and held onto the ball. A quick kick out from the keeper let Dairmuid MacDonagh away on the left and with his cross blocked the ball went out for Blarney's first corner of the second half. Adam O'Donoghue took the resulting corner to the near post which caught the keeper by surprise some how the keeper could not make the post and the ball crept in and it was 3.1 to Blarney and no more than there play deserved. With changes being made on both sides the game opened up. Joey Forrest and Fionn Collins came into the game and both made great contributions. Forrest unlucky not to score with 10 minutes to go with the ball just being pinched of his foot as he was ready to shoot. 2 minutes later Blarney were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box. Adam O'Donoghue stepped up and cracked a wonderful effort the keeper made a great save tipping the ball onto the crossbar, Eddie Murphy on the far post chipped the ball back in and the keeper came and punched away the ball and Corinthian Boys managed to clear. To their credit Blarney Utd never the let the tempo of the game drop and with a solid back four of Cian Mackin, Adam O'Donoughe, Brian Dinan and Josy Lyne in the first half and with Charlie Coulter joining the back four to bolster the defence and Adam O'Donoughe pushing into the mid-field Blarney seen out the game comfortably. All in all it was a great performance all round. Blarney now take their unbeaten run to four and looking forward to their next match away to Ballinhassig on the 5th of December.
