Opening game of the season saw our u16 A team come from behind to beat a stubborn St Marys team. The home team started very well and took the game to St Marys from the first minute but after some wasteful passes in the final third, they were caught on the break by a very well taken goal by the opposition. One -nil down at half time gave the managers plenty of food for thought and the impact of second half sub Jack Ring paid dividends from the start, braking from wide right Jack squared a great ball to the feet of Alex Butler who side footed in off the far post to equalise.Blarney continued to threaten to take the lead but once again the final pass let them down.Marys to their credit kept chasing a winner themselves but found the Blarney defence, superbly marshalled by Dara Walsh and goalkeeper Cathal Hegarty in fine form and it was a result of Cathals quick ball release from a Marys free kick that led to a superb winning goal.Great work up the left wing by Stephen o Shea who played a quick one-two with Paudie O sullivan and finished neatly past the Marys GK.Blarney also had a penalty miss in the final minutes but thankfully it didnt spoil what was a very good opening win of season.Well done lads and roll on next fixture!!
