One of the best performances of the season to-date against the high-flying Douglas Hall Premier Division team.An intense and committed opening quarter, saw Blarney take the lead with an excellent team goal which went from end-to-end before being finished briliantly by Shane O'Shea.A visibly stunned Douglas Hall team were lucky not to go further behind thanks to some fine goalkeeping and were then rewarded by an excellent free-kick which the Blarney defence could do little to prevent. The home team continued to play well based on solid defending with Denis McSweeney slotting in excellently at left-full, as well as committed midfield play with the outstanding Aaron Dorgan and with some slick passing in the forward positions. The strength and experience of the premier team came through in the second half with 2 further goals to see them through to the next round. They left O’Shea Park after a game as tough as any they are likely to play in the premier division this season. A huge learning experience for Blarney and another giant step in the progress of a team that are making great strides week by week and whose efforts will surely be rewarded sooner rather than later. Well done lads !
