Blarney United U16 team progressed onto the next round of the FAI National Cup after beating Macroom 5 - 0 at home last Sunday morning in O' Shea Park. Blarney were 2 - 0 up at half time and very much in control of the game. The first goal came after 21 minutes when Aaron Kirby had his shoot saved by the Macroom goalkeeper only for Jason Hogan to react quickly and score from the rebounding ball. Blarney were unlucky not to get a second goal 10 minutes later when Aaron Kirby struck the ball with force from outside the 18 yard box only to be denied by the crossbar. On the final whistle of the first half Levi O' Mahony had the ball in the net after being assisted by Evan Murphy. On the 51 and 61 minutes Levi O' Mahony had 2 more goals scored from two fine solo performances. On the 73 minute Jason Hogan scored his second goal of the day when he received a fine ball from Michael O' Connell. Overall a very impressive team performance Man of the Match Levi O' Mahony for scoring his first hat trick of the season.
