U13 Premier Blarney United 4 Ringmahon 0 This week we played Ringmahon who are 2nd in the league and are a very good footballing side so it was going to be a big test for us. Our lads again trained very well this week and were very focused on job at hand. In the opening minutes of this game Blarney showed their intent and a lovely ball from John Lehane to Ronan O Brien exposed the Ringmahon defence and with still a fair bit of work to do Ronan finished superbly to make it 1-0. The Blarney midfield of Sean Keane and Kelvin O Donoghue were well in control of the game and always looked threatening going forward. With 10 minutes gone Kelvin picked up the ball in the midfield area and fed Ronan on the left wing just outside the 18 yard box and he let fly from an acute angle to again finish superbly to make it 2-0. This sprung Ringmahon into life and with 18 minutes gone the class of the Blarney keeper Eli Linehan was tested and he made a wonderful save (which was apprecieated by all who were watching the game) to deny Ringmahon pulling a goal back. The score at half time was 2-0 and Blarney came out in the second half to play some lovely football and were awarded a free kick on edge of Ringmahon box when John Lehane was fouled. John took the free kick himself which hit the cross bar and came back for Kelvin O Donoghue to tap it into the net to make it 3-0. In fairness to Ringmahon they kept battling away but the Blarney back 4 of Liam,Andrew,Michael & Cian were rock solid all day and were determined to keep a clean sheet. With 7 minutes remaining a fantastic header by Scott Forrest put Ronan in for his hatrick and Blarney played out the remaining minutes to finsh the game 4-0. It was a fantastic team performance which keeps us top of the league. Best for Blarney were Ronan O Brien, Kelvin O Donoghue & Eli Linehan. Well done lads keep up the good work !!!!!!!!
