A bright sunny morning saw Blarney take on Wilton in the Lee Road. The game started evenly enough with both teams creating chances. Liz O Connor in goal, making great saves and with intellegent distribution of the ball, set up some good attacking play for Blarney. With 5 minutes of play left in the 1st half, Wilton found an unmarked on the edge of the box and scored to go in, 1 up at half time. The second half saw Blarney keen to even the scoreline and within 10 minutes of the restart, Blarney scored the equaliser, when Amy Walsh crossed the ball from the by-line to set up Caoimhe Twomey, who slotted the ball into the back of the net. 1-1. Again, Wilton were looking for a 2nd goal but couldn't break down a solid Blarney defence. With 10 minutes play left, Rachel Finnegan won possession in midfield, raced past two defenders and fired home a shot beyond the advancing goalkeeper. 2-1 Blarney. Blarney were unlucky not to get a third after more attacking play. The scoreline stayed at 2-1 at the final whistle. Well played the Blarney girls.
