A fine Sunday morning in Riverview saw Blarney start the brighter. A fast free kick caught Kinsale napping, Robert Long sprinted down the wing and his pin point cross was met on the volley by Ben Ahern putting Blarney 1 up. Blarney were 2 up after 15 minutes when some panic defending lead to a Kinsale player putting through his own net. Blarney failed to build on their bright start and for the rest of the half Kinsale had most of the possession, saying that Blarney Goalkeeper Jake O Leary was never troubled. Blarney had some good chances to make it 3-0 on the counter attack but let Kinsale off the hook on a few occasions. The second half began in the same vain, Kinsale had a great chance to make it 2-1 but the Kinsale striker blazed wide from 10 yards. A few tactical changes from the Blarney line helped shift the momentum and Blarney took control for the last 20 mins. Blarney were unlucky not to make it 3-0 before the end, hitting the post and the crossbar. Cork U/14 player Padraig Power along with Shane Ahern and Rob Long had good performances. Again thanks to parents for all the support !
