In what was only the 5th match that Under 13 B's have now played in all competition to date the team have finally got their first win. Have been beaten by Ballincollig 7.1 in their first match the team have improved with every training session and match that they have taken part in. With the squad now at 15 and all 02's it has being a slow process but they have never stopped pushing themselves. Todays game was just another step in their development as a team. They played extremely good football trying to get it down and play at all times. With just 11 players at the match due to a few late drop out with illness, there was only change from the team that drew 2.2 with Riverstown in their last match which was also a friendly. Joey Forrest coming in for the ill Fionn collins. Blarney started the strongest with some lovely football and took an early lead after 12 minutes with a great ball from Isaac Cronin in midfield out wide to Diarmuid MacDonagh which was push on to Hieu Power who drove the ball low and hard to the far corner for the net for 1.0. Ten minutes later Blarney made it 2.0 again good individual work from Hieu Power to make it two. Mallow had a quick break shortly before half time which caught Blarney out and they pulled one back. Score 2- 1 Blarney at HT. The second half was a much more open game and Blarney never really looked in trouble as the game was well controlled by Isaac Cronin and Sam Bruchet in the centre of midfield. The back four were excellent on the day with a very special mention to Charlie Coulter who was outstanding on the day, taking some heavy tackles put never let it phase him. A quick break by Blarney half way through the second half by Eddie Murphy who covered a major amount of ground to get the ball to Joey Forrest, who turned and fired the ball towards goal, Hieu Power was quickest to react and turned the ball into the goal for his hatrick and a 3 - 1 lead for Blarney. Mallow pulled another goal back with about ten minutes to run but Blarney closed out the game with great control and are now looking forward to their next game with great confidence. Man of the Match for his outstanding performance in defence was Charlie Coulter.
