U16's 4-1 Bandon

Blarney United v Bandon Blarney United stays 6 points ahead on top of the U16 Schoolboy’s Division 1 League after a beating fourth place Bandon 4 – 1 last Sunday morning. Blarney made an easy start to this game and was 3 - 0 up, 13 minutes into the game. The first goal was scored in the 4 minutes into the game when Birthday boy Jason Hogan scored a cracker of goal after receiving a fine pass from Aaron Kirby Hennessy. Within 3 minutes of the first goal Blarney were 2 – 0 up after Blarney were award a free kick about 10 yards outside the penalty box. James Dineen took the free kick and forced the Bandon keeper to pounce the ball away but Levi O’ Mahony was quickly to response and put the rebounding ball into the back of the net. On the 12 minute of the Blarney were on the attack again and Jason Hogan passed a fine ball to Levi O Mahony who from inside the penalty box took a shot at goal and was reflected of a Bandon player into the back of the net. Being 3 – 0 up Blarney appeared to be in control half but on the 30 minute Bandon made a fine attack from centre of midfield up the right hand side and by beating the Blarney defence scored a fine goal by beating the Blarney goalkeeper Conor Hogan. At the final whistle of the first half the score was 3 – 1. In the second half the game was more even with both teams having equal possession of the ball. On the 77 minute Blarney was awarded another free kick about 8 yards outside the penalty box. With a fine free kick from James Dineen, he but the ball around the Bandon wall and slotted the ball into the right hand side of the net, giving the Bandon goalkeeper no chance. Michael O’ Connell was unlucky not to score 2 goals toward the end of the game and forced the Bandon goalkeeper to make 2 fine saves. His first chance came from a header from a corner and the chance second from a fine strike from the edge of the penalty box. Over all great team performance but best for Blarney were Birthday boy Jason Hogan and Brian Walsh. Blarney United Team Conor Hogan, Brian Walsh, Alex Kiely, Jack Moore, James Dineen, Conor Power, Mark Lynch, Evan Murphy, Jason Hogan, Levi O’ Mahony, Aaron Kirby Hennessy, Michael O Connell and Declan Hanlon. Next game is in the U16 Cork Schoolboys, Division 1 league next Sunday morning at 10.30am away to Riverstown.
