Blarney U-1

2 4 Buttevant U12 3 Blarney Turn The Tide ! Another great squad performance from the Blarney U12s with stand-out performances all over the picth. Facing a side who had beaten them 5-0 at the start of the season and going in 2-1 down at half time, the home team put in a huge effort in the second half to turn the tables on the north Cork side. Blarney started well with Thomas Flavey settling in well to the left-back position after returning from injury. Aaoron Dorgan gave the home side an early lead but a couple of break-away goals saw them go in a goal down at the break. It was clear to all during the half-time team-talk that Blarney had the measure of this team and they came out fighting in the second half. There was only one team in it as Blarney piled on the pressure. The forwards were moving well and Jack Homan was keeping the play water-tight in midfield. The inevitible goals followed with Conor O Riordan striking a double to push the home side in front. The value of the strong squad then came to the fore with subs Scott McLroy slotting in up front and Dylan Constant showing some lovely touches before hitting a cracking fourth goal to push Blarney clear. Buttevant came back strong in the last few minutes and although they did manage a consolation in the last minute, they were give little space by the home side with the stand out Denis McSweeney covering enormous ground to make some great tackles. This was the attitude that prevailed throughout the whole squad, who are now reaping the rewards from the commitment they have been showing all year.
