U13 Premier Blarney United 7 Rockmount 1 Today we played Rockmount in a local derby. Our lads put in 2 good sessions this week in training and were determined to take all 3 points from this match. From the very start we took control of the game and had 2 early free kicks when Ronan O Brien was taken down just outside Rockmounts 18 yard box. John Lehane took 2 great free kicks which he was unlucky not to score with one cleared off the line and the other just wide of the post. Then with 8 minutes gone we got a corner on the left hand side, a good delivery from Jack O Keefe saw Michael Murray get up for a great header which was deflected in off a Rockmount defender. This settled us down and 4 minutes later a nice through ball found the good run of Scott Forrest who finished superbly. Jack O Keefe and Sean Keane were now dominating the central midfield area and also providing good cover for the back four. A great run down the right wing by Shay Dineen after 25 minutes provided us with a corner and up stepped Andrew Mc Carthy to float in a fantastic corner which beat the goal keeper at the near post. The score at half time was a deservedly 3-0 to Blarney. Credit to Rockmount they didn’t give up but the Blarney back four of Cian, Michael, Andrew and Liam were again in great form today as was man of the match Scott Forrest who scored 3 more very good goals in the second half, his strike partner John Lehane also banged in a goal after good work on the left by Liam O Connor. It was a fantastic team performance which saw Blarney produce some fantastic football which was appreciated by both sets of supporters. They are credit to their club and coaches and we remain on top of the league with a 100% record from 9 games. To top it off we welcomed back Michael O Mahony today after missing the last 7 weeks through injury. Best for Blarney were Scott Forrest, Sean Keane and Shay Dineen.
