Blarney started slowly on a cold Sunday morning in Riverview. The first half was evenly balanced with both sides having their fair share of possession. Blarney looked the more likely to take the lead early on but it was Mallow who took the lead when a neat 1-2 saw the Mallow striker convert from 10 yards. Blarney struggled to get going and couldn't get into a rhythm. Blarney keeper Jake O Leary was out quick to prevent Mallow making it 2-0 minutes later. Blarney were happy enough to hear the half time whistle blow at 1-0. A few positional changes and the introduction of 3 halftime subs had a positive effect and within 5 minutes Blarney were level when a Lorcan Clinton volley hit the roof of the net from 30 yards out. Ronan O Brien then made it 2-1 to Blarney when he hit the top corner with an unstoppable shot. Number 3 quickly followed when another Ronan left foot strike had the Mallow keeper rooted. A Mallow through ball caught Blarney on the hop and Mallow striker made it 3-2 when he toe poked home. Blarney not to be outdone were back up the other end in no time and had the ball in the net for the fourth time when Ben Aherne hammered home from 12yards. Blarney were now totally in command, Ronan completed his hat trick when he lobbed the keeper from 20 yards and the game finished 5-2. Well done to all 14 involved !
