U14: Douglas Hall 1-0 Blarney United

Disappointing result on Sunday v's Douglas Hall but a very good performance all the same from the Blarney lads. Not a great start to the game for Blarney as they found themselves 1nil down after 2minutes through some slack defending. Blarney fought their way back into the game and were unlucky not to equalise on two occasions in the first half. Blarney pushed on again in the second half determined to find an equaliser. Douglas Hall were now settling for a 1nil win but found themselves defending deeeper and deeper. Blarney almost equalised with 2 minutes to go but the Douglas Hall keeper somehow managed to tip a Blarney free kick onto the crossbar and out for a corner. The resultant corner led to a 60second scramble in the Douglas Hall penalty box but Blarney were unable to steer the ball home for what would have been a deserved equaliser. A great effort from all players involved who kept going until the final whistle and thanks to parents for the support!
