Blarney remain in second place after collecting all three points on a wet and windy Sunday afternoon in Ballyphehane. Blarney were the better team in the first half but struggled to get their passing going in somewhat difficult conditions. Blarney's Kevin Moynihan opened his account when he got on the end of a great pass from Cathal O Brien. Oliver Keane almost made it 2-0 when his 30yard volley rattled the crossbar, with no Blarney player around to tap in the rebound Kilreen easily cleared. Blarney had some good chances at the start of the second half but the final pass was letting them down. The introduction of three subs and a few positional switches 10 minutes into the second half had Blarney picking up the pace. Padraig Power (now playing in midfield) waltzed passed a few Kilreen players before shooting low passed the Kilreen keeper. Padraig quickly made it 3-0 when he gave the keeper no chance from 15 yards out. It was 4-0 10 minutes later, Kilreen keeper could only parry Ronan O Brien's 20yard shot, and Padraig Power was on hand to finish off the rebound to complete his hat trick. Blarney keeper Jake O Leary had to be on his toes at the other end and was quick off his line to deny Kilreen a consolation goal. Blarney kept up the attack but didn't add to their tally. Break now for Christmas, thanks to parents for all the support and Merry Christmas to all!
