Blarney faced 2nd placed Rockmount at a cold and windy Rockmount Park where a sticky surface added to the difficult conditions. This did not deter the Blarney boys who rose to the challenge and gave an excellent committed performnce. A solid defence, a busy midfield and a dangerous strike-force gave the hosts a stern test, but unfortunately it was just one of those days where fortune didn't favour the brave and not a single break went the way of the travelling team. Blarney had the bulk of possession throughout and created a host of chances. However, a goal line clearance, a sturdy cross-bar and two efforts ruled out for off-side were the only results of the many Blarney opportunities. In goal, Brian Lowney made some swift interventions and is now starting to show great command of his penalty area.Charlie Murphy was sharp whenever called on in defence and Eogahn Maloney put in a great perfomance off the bench. Yet more signs of the continuing progress of this team who are making great strides with each game.
