Blarney Utd 1 V Mallow Utd 2A cold morning for a friendly but it did not spoil what was a great game. Blarney started the brighter with some great football starting from the back with goalkeeper Ben Maher in great form. Blarney made ther breakthrough on 14 minutes when Johnathan Keane played a great ball to Jerry Murphy in midfield who let the ball beat him and he spotted the run of Cameron Lynch and threaded the ball through the Mallow defence and Lynch made no mistake form 15 yrds when he drove a brillant shot low to the bottom corner of the Mallow net. Both teams went end to end for the remainder of the first half and with both defences playing well then the score remained 1-0 to Blarney at the break. In the second half Blarney had the greatest share of possession but conceded against the run of play after conceding a corner in the 45th minute, the ball wall played to the near post and was scuffed into the net by an incoming Mallow player to make it 1-1. From the centre kick Blarney showed there intent with some great through balls, and a great ball played through to Adam O'Mahony in the 50th minute his shot was tipped around the post to deny Blarney the goal they deserved. Mallow scored there second on the 53rd minute with some good play up the left side and when the ball was played across the Blarney goal it was a Mallow forward who was first to the ball and his shot was unstoppable from 15yrds to make it 2-1 to Mallow against the run of play. Blarney dominated for ther final 7 minutes and with the Mallow keeper in good form then Blarney were denied a draw at least.MOM : Cathal McCarthy
