Blarney came away from Midleton Sunday morning with no points but deserved 1 point at least for their efforts. Playing against a strong a wind in the first half Blarney had to defend well as Midleton had most of the play. 30 minutes gone and all was going to plan for Blarney however 2 minutes later Blarney unbelievably found themselves 2-0 down. A Midleton corner was unluckily headed into the net by a Blarney defender, a minute later Middleton’s No.10 (who was a constant threat) waltzed around four Blarney challenges to make it 2-0 at half time. Blarney now with the wind at their backs in the second half tried hard to reduce the deficit. Unfortunately for Blarney they couldn't convert some good chances and it just wasn't their day. Late drama however saw Scott Forest upended in the box and Kevin Moynihan duly converted the penalty with 4 minutes to go. Blarney piled on the pressure and nearly equalised when Andrew McCarthy almost scored direct from a corner. Disappointment in the end but that's football! well done to all 14 involved for their effort and thanks to all parents for support!
