Carrigaline A V Blarney Utd FC - 24–Jan-15 Final Score 2-7 Today Blarney played Carrigaline A in their first ever cup match…… The first 10 minutes of the game was very even with both teams playing some nice football, the deadlock however was broken by Blarney when a shot from 10 yards by Sean Murray Martin was deflected into the Carrigaline goal by Billy O’Sullivan. Blarneys lead was short lived and within 2 minutes a mix up at the back resulted in a tame shot from Carrigaline being conceded. Blarney however struck back almost immediately when Sean Murray Martin hammered in a fine shot from an acute angle to give Blarney a 2-1 lead. Blarney when further ahead 5 minutes later following some good work down the right by Cameron Lynch, his cross was met perfectly on the volley by Billy O’Sullivan who volleyed home from 6 yards. A further goal by Sean Murray Martin gave Blarney a 4-1 lead at half time. Carrigaline to their great credit kept battling and started the 2nd half very well and their efforts were rewarded with a goal after 5 minutes. Blarney however were not to be outdone on the day with goals from PJ Farrissey, Jerry Murphy and a superb individual goal from Cameron Lynch in the second half giving Blarney a 7-2 victory on the day. Blarney will take great confidence from their performance today and can look forward to the draw of the last 32 this week. MOM Sean Murray Martin
