Blarney Utd V Youghal

It was a cold morning for a game and from the kick off both teams needed time to warm up in what was a game that Blarney had the most chances and Youghal converting the one chance they got in the game. Both teams did not create many chances early in the game but in the 12 minute the deadlock was broken when Blarney were caught in possession at the back and the Youghal right midfielder ran onto a loose pass and his shot from 8 yards made it 1-0 to Youghal. Blarney responded well and when they won a free kick in the 25 minute Cameron Lynch made the Youghal Keeper work hard with a great shot from 20 yards and it remained 1-0 at the break. Blarney created the best of the chances in the second half with the best coming from Sean Murray-Martin with 10 minutes to go when he latched onto a short pass from a corner and his shot went narrowly wide of the upright. Youghal defended well and deserved the 3 pts at the end of the day. MOM David Keane
