Blarney were ultimately beaten by the clock as time ran out on their courageous fight-back against a rapidly improving Bandon side. The first half was a very tight affair with neither side giving any ground. The Blarney defence were well on top with Thomas Falvey making some timely tackles as he slotted in well to the centre-back role. Opportunities up front were limited as the Blarney midfield and attack ran tirelessly to limit their opponents possession with Eoin Maloney covering huge ground. Bandon made the breakthrough at the start of the second half and quickly added another two to see Blarney trailing 3-0. However, with a great show of character, they battled on and fought their way back into the game creating chance after chance. Eoin Kirby finished the first after a great run from midfield and Dylan Constant struck a superb second from the edge of the box to bring the game to a dramatic climax. Unfortunately, the equaliser was not forthcoming to provide what would have been a most deserved draw. Blarney may not have come away with the points, but their heads were held high in what was possibly the best team performance of the season. Some big battles lie ahead in the latter stage of the season and this game will surely provide the impetus for the Blarney boys to push on and get the required results.
