Blarney’s Battling performance goes un-rewarded.
A tremendous team performance from Blarney may have failed to get the deserved result, but the home side could not have put any more into this game.It would be fair to say that Blarney dominated the game from start to finish with the away team scoring from their two only clear chances in the 60 minutes.Blarney went about their business from the off and were lively all over the pitch as they created numerous opportunities only to be denied by some solid defending and good goal-keeping.
The work-rate was evident from 1 to 11 and in particular along the left flank where Shane O Shea dominated.Despite conceding two give-away goals, the home side persevered and continued to press, with Dennis McSweeney getting the upper-hand in midfield.Blarney got themselves back in the game after a great finish by Conor O Riordan and continued to pile-on the pressure as Mayfield struggled to stay in the game. With Adam Higgins showing strongly in defence, the home side were giving the visitors very little in attack. However the Mayfield boys held out for the win but Blarney can look back on a great effort and further proof that they are more than capable of matching any team in this league.
