U16's: BUFC 2-1 Leeside - AET

Blarney v Leeside Local Cup Last Sunday morning the top two teams of the U16, Division 1 league clash in the Local Cup when Blarney United took on Leeside in O’ Shea Park. This game was an exciting game with Blarney making a great comeback in the second half after going down 1 – 0 in the first half. Being a goal up Leeside defended the game but Blarney were determined not to give up and battled hard in the fist half to get a equaliser but at half time the score remained 1 – 0 to Leeside. In the second half Blarney continued to play with great team spirit and five minutes into the half they were rewarded when Jason Hogan passed the ball to Michael O’ Connell who took his touch and fired the ball into the Leeside goal. From this point Blarney took control of the game and created a few scoring chances but at the final whistle of the second half the game remained 1 – 1 forcing the game into extra time. Early in the first half of extra time Blarney went 2 – 1 up after Levi O’ Mahony cross the ball into the Leeside box but was deflected off a Leeside player and into the Leeside goal. Blarney pressed hard to get a third goal and continued to create chances butt at the final whistle the game remained 2- 1 to Blarney.
