Temple United V Blarney United Blarney United return to the top of the table by one point in the U16 Division 1 Schoolboy’s League after a impressive 6 – 1 win away from home to Temple United last Sunday morning. This was a much improved but not at its best Blarney team performance, comparing to their poor performance to Leeside the previous week. Blarney got an early lead on the 4th minute after a free kick taken by Declan Hanlon found Aaron Kirby Hennessy who had no hesitation in putting the ball into the back of the Temple net. Being a goal down Temple appeared to up their game and on the 20th minute they were unlucky not to equalise after a free kick awarded to Temple found a lose Temple player whose strike rebounded off the Blarney goalkeeper Conor Hogan but Conor reacted fast to secure the ball. On the 25th minute Temples efforts were rewarded when again from a free kick the ball was put over the Blarney defence finding a Temple player who struck at goal, again the ball rebounding of the Blarney keeper but Temple players were fast to follow through and put the ball into the Blarney net. On the brink of half time Aaron Kirby Hennessy scored his second goal of the day after being assisted by Levi O’ Mahony. Half time the score was 2 – 1 to Blarney. As usual Blarney settled more into the game in the second half Michael O’ Connell was first to score when he put a rebounding ball into the Temple net on the 46th minute. Two minutes later on the 48th minute Levi O’ Mahony was on the score sheet this was his first of three goals on the day. Levi’s second goal could be considered for one of the goals of the season and was a pure genius solo performance, on the 55th minute Levi received the ball inside his own half and from there he attacked the Temple midfield and defence up the right hand side of the pitch and after outsmarting about eight Temple players up the pitch he ended one on one with the Temple goalkeeper and calmly tucked the ball into the back of the net. On the 67th minute Levi scored his hat trick of the day after receiving the ball from play inside the Temple box and at with ease he struck it into the Temple goal. At the final whistle the score was 6 – 1 to Blarney. On the day good performance by Aaron Kirby Hennessy, Michael O’ Connell and man of the match Levi O’ Mahony. Blarney Team Conor Hogan, Alex Kiely, Declan Hanlon, Jack Moore (C), James Dineen, Conor Power, Aaron Kirby Hennessy, Evan Murphy, Jason Hogan, Levi O’ Mahony, Michael O’ Connell, Mark Lynch and Brian Walsh.
