Blarney Utd V Buttevant AFC 21 March Final Score 2-0 Blarney Utd started the game very brightly playing some lovely football and should have been leading after 14 minutes if not for the Buttevant keeper. After 15 minutes Blarney unloaded their bench and this change saw Buttevant getting more into the game as they created some great chances only to find defender Cathal McCarthy and keeper Ben Maher in fantastic form. The half finished 0-0. The second half started in much the same way the first end with Buttevant creating some great chances, the best being a free kick from 15 yards which was expertly pushed away by Ben Maher. Blarney changed personal again after 15 minutes of the second half and the fresh legs made an almost immediate impact, Billy O’Sullivan made a great run down the right and his cross was touch back by Sean Murray to give Cameron Lynch a shot who stuck the ball perfectly to the top left hand corner and give the Buttevant keeper no chance. 3 minutes later Cameron Lynch stuck again to give Blarney a 2 nil lead and score his 15 goal of a very good season for the flying winger. The game ended 2-0 to Blarney but Buttevant will be very disappointed that their good performance did not earn them any points . This result guarantees Blarney Utd promotion to the premier division next year a fantastic achievement for the club. MOM John Joe O’Connor.
