Today our match was all about team spirit and good discipline. It was a difficult pitch and atmosphere to play in but it didn't phase our lads who put in another great team performance.
We started off very positively brining the game to Ringmahon and were unlucky not to be a goal or 2 up after the first few minutes with good chances falling to Ronan O Brien and John Lehane.
Andrew MC Carthy was also unlucky when he hit the crossbar from one of his speciality corner kicks. With eighteen minutes gone Blarney deservedly took the lead when another great corner was met with a fantastic header by Michael Murray which cannoned off the crossbar and rebounded out to Sean Keane who connected well to send the ball into the roof of the net.
Great work in midfield from Scott Forrest, Jack O Keefe, Michael O Mahony and Sean Keane ensured Ringmahon were not going to get a foothold in this game and Blarney were well worth their lead at half time. The start of the second half saw Ringmahon try and push for an equaliser but the team spirit within the Blarney team denied them getting any half chance on goal. As the half wore on Ronan O Brien became a constant threat for Blarney and kept getting the better of his marker and setting up good chances for his team mates. Another great corner kick from Jack O Keefe was met by Andrew Mc Carthys and he finished well to make it 2-0 to Blarney.
For the remainder of the game it was all about discipline and team spirit and in fairness to the Blarney lads they done their club & coaches proud. The game finished with a great away win for Blarney United which keeps us on top of the league with 2 more league games to play. The whole team deserves a pat on the back for the effort and team spirit they displayed.
Best on the day for Blarney were their goal keeper Robert O Gorman and his back four of Michael Murray, Andrew Mc Carthy, Oiseen O Brien and Cian Connolly as they showed great composure and determination to ensure another clean sheet was recorded. Well done lads another great victory !!!!
