Blarney Utd 0Blarney bowed out of the local cup at the quarter final stage with a 2-0 defeat to Premier league table toppers Ringmahon. Blarney were well in it in the first half and the game was evenly balanced. Andrew McCarthy burst passed three Ringmahon players but unluckily saw his left foot drive skim the outside of the post with the keeper beaten all ends up. Kevin Moynihan was then unlucky not to convert with the Ringmahon keeper saving well. Then just on the stroke of half time Blarney conceded, with plenty of Blarney players around there seemed to be no danger but somehow the Ringmahon player got his shot away to make 1-0 at half time. Blarney didn't leave the goal affect them and forced the pace again in the second half in search for an equaliser. It wasn't to be Blarney's day however as unluckily they couldn’t convert two good chances midway through the second half, (Ringmahon keeper making a great save on one occasion) . A Ringmahon shot with 15 minutes to go went in off the post and thus ended the Blarney challenge. A great effort by the lads on Sunday and also throughout the season so plenty to be cheerful about, thanks to parents for all the support they gave over the season!
