Friday evening we travelled to Marys Park for our last league game of the season. With the character of this team being questioned after our 1/4 final cup defeat to Corinthians in our last outing the lads were determined to put in an exceptional performance. A victory in this game would also put us in a great position in our quest to become Premier League Champions. With 2 minutes gone in the game Ronan O Brien received the ball on the left wing and saw the run of John Lehane into the box he delivered a peach of a pass to John who took a great first touch and finished very well to give us a 1-0 lead. Blarney were determined to build on this lead and were first to every ball pressing Marys back into there own half. With 11 minutes gone Ronan again received the ball on the left and picked out the run of Scott Forrest who finished with a fantastic half volley into the roof of St Mary's net.

Mary's were trying to play the quick ball up to their strikers but some good defending from Michael Murray and Cian Connolly and some honest hard tackling from Sean Keane and Jack O Keffe in midfield ensured there was going to be no way through on goal for St Mary's tonight. Blarney had a few more half chances before half time to kill the game off but failed to convert them.

At the start of the second half Blarney got proceedings underway and and from the kick off Scott passed it to Ronan who drove at Marys defence beating 3 men and let fly from 30 yards out to score a wonderful goal. He then added another soon after to make it 4-0. Blarney made a few changes and straight away 2 of the changes came up trumps when a great cross from the left from Robert O Gorman found Josh Roberts in the box who took his goal well to make it 5-0. Soon after Josh got his second with another great corner from Ronan who again found Josh in a good position to finish with a powerful header. With a few minutes remaining Blarney won a free kick 40 yards out from the Marys goal and up stepped Ronan to strike a powerful and accurate shot and complete his hatrick and a fantastic individual performance. It was an excellent team performance where each of the kids showed fantastic skill and determination that was well appreciated by the large Blarney United support who attended the match.

Best on the night for Blarney were; Eli Linehan,Cian Connolly,Michael Murray,Andrew Mc Carthy, Michael O Mahony,Oiseen O Brien,Robert O Gorman,Liam O Connor,John Lehane,Shay Dineen,Sean Keane,Kelvin O Donoghue,Scott Forrest,Josh Roberts,Ronan O Brien,Jack O Keefe.

We now sit 15 points clear of Corinthians who have 5 games to play, our job is done and done well, we must now sit and wait to see if they slip up. If they don't we are ready for them in a play off and if they do we will be Premier League Champions.

Well done lads ye are a credit to the club and the Management team are very proud of ye and either way we think ye are all champions !!!!!!!
