With the recent form of the team improving dramatically in the second half of the season and with the understanding between players improving with every game Blarney went into this game full of confidence. The game started brightly with Blarney having most of the play and had there first real attempt on goal after 6 minutes with the Ballincollig Keeper saving well. Blarney kept the pressure and where having great results down the right side. It was only a matter of time before the goal came and it duly arrived with 7 minutes to go in the first half. The ball was pushed up the line on the right side by Cian Mackin who was having a very steady game at right back, Isaac Cronin continued with the ball and passed to Sam Bruchet who put in a lovely ball. It was half cleared by the Ballincollig defence but fell nicely to Joey Forrest who slotted the ball home for his first goal of the season. Thats how the score remained for the remainder of the first and Blarney went in 1.0 up at HT. The second half started as the first half ended with BUFC on the front foot. Again some good work in midfield led to the second goal where recently awarded golden boot for the team Diarmuid MacDonagh finished for Blarney's and their second goal to take his tally for the season to 8. With 15 minutes to go Ballincollig were warded a very soft penalty and that was well taken to make the score 2.1. Other that that Blarney never really looked as if they would lose the game but with only a one goal difference they had to close the game out by doing nothing stupid. Brian Dinan and ever present member of the midfield had to play in goal for this game with an injury to Luke Bevan but he rarely looked in trouble and with a solid performance from the back four Blarney closed out the game and lifted up two places in the table to taken them of the bottom. A result that they deserved from start to finish.g
