Playing in their first game ahead of the start of the new 2015 /16 season. Blarney played out a scoreless draw with their Under 14 Division 4 counterparts. Blarney started brightly in the opening 15 minutes even if at times they looked a bit rusty. The first real chance however fell to Springfield but Luke Bevan in goal saved well. As the game continued on both sets of players got more into the game and chances at both ends should have netted scores for both teams. However at the HT it was 0.0. The second half start much the same as the first with Blarney pushing for the opening goal. A great ball down the line form Cian Mackin which found Eddie Murphy, Murphy pealed away to his right and took on and beat his man. but when Murphy failed to pull the ball back to the onrushing MacDonagh at the edge of the box the certain goals chance was gone. With 10 minutes to go Blarney lost center half Charlie Coulter to what looks like a muscle injury in his back it looked as if Blarney were going to be under pressure. However Isaac Cronin dropped in to cover for the rest of the game and never looked in trouble. Springfield had a great chance in the last minute when the winger found himself wide open at the edge of the box but blazed his shot over. With both teams now hanging on it would have being a shame for either team to win. Three minutes of injury time came and went and Blarney got their well deserved draw. The two teams will meet again in Blarney on Thursday the 3rd for their last friendly before the season kicks off on Sunday morning the 6th of September with Blarney Utd opening their 2015/16 with away fixture to Douglas Hall in Moneygourney.
